3R-US Center Stuttgart
Description
We need a logo design for the 3R Center at the University of Stuttgart. 3R stands for Replace, Reduce and Refine animal experments. Our focus is on the development of novel methodologies, with three main directions: ex vivo, de novo and in silico (explanations below).
Our inititative name is 3R-BioMedicUS and a short version is 3R-US. The current (self-designed) logo is attached.
For the logo, we need to stick to the University of Stuttgart corporate design colors:
1. white
2. Anthracite (Pantone 432 U, HKS 93, CMYK 50 / 35 / 25 / 70, RGB 62 / 68 / 76, Web #323232)
3. Dark Blue (Pantone 293 U, HKS 43, CMYK 100 / 70 / 0 / 0, RGB 0 / 81 / 158, Web #004191)
4. Light blue (Pantone 2985 U, HKS 47, CMYK 70 / 0 / 0 / 0, RGB 0 / 190 / 255, Web #00BEFF)
We find the current logo too detailed, we would like something simpler and more catchy.
Ideally, one version with the long name 3R-BioMedicUS and one with the abbreviation 3R-US.
Glossary of terms:
Ex vivo – performing experiments or measurements in or on tissue removed from an organism with minimal alteration of natural conditions, contributing both to reduction of animals used in pre-clinical studies, as well as allowing direct testing on human tissue samples.
De novo – designing and constructing tissue ”anew”, in a so-called “bottom-up” approach, starting with small structural/functional units such as different cell types added onto custom-designed biological scaffolds, aiming to recapitulate tissue composition and architecture.
In silico – computational patient models built upon existing literature and experimental data, that allow scientists to model disease responses and to run complex simulations of research experiments.
